Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Saturday 2nd January 2016:

Palma de Mallorca (shortened to Palma) is the capital of the island of Mallorca, separate to mainland Spain. A fairly small but attractive place, we only spent a few hours strolling around the city before returning to the Epic.

We wandered the shops for a while, before strolling down to Passeig des Born. Passeig des Born is a bit like Barcelona's La Rambla - a wide tree-lined pedestrian area, flanked by trendy shops, bars and restaurants.

We left Brad and Suella to explore the shops further, and set off back towards the ship.

La Seu Cathedral is an imposing Gothic sandstone cathedral and one of Palma's most glorious landmarks, aside from the spectacular coastline. It is surrounded by beautifully manicured public gardens.

We returned to the ship and hit the waterslides for the last time (detouring via the buffet), before we had to disembark back in Barcelona tomorrow.

That evening, we took Adam along to the onboard ice bar. For $20 USD each, we were each given 3 drink tokens as well as gloves and a hooded blanket to wear.

Inside, the bar, seating, polar bear and knight sculptures were all carved out of ice. Despite the freezing cold (even with the blanket), we were determined to get as much value out of it as we could, plus the bartender seemed a bit bored and lonely, meanwhile several other groups came and went each lasting around 10 minutes.

We lasted for around 45 minutes, the bartender told us most people don't last even half an hour.

As it was the final night, we missed out on a towel animal this evening.

Highlights:
- Passeig des Born
- La Seu Cathedral
- Waterslides
- Ice bar
- Last day of the cruise and buffet :(
